Join appeal to bring Gary Dunne home

It’s over two years since Gary Dunne was knifed to death by a gang of Spanish thugs on the Costa Del Sol.

Spanish police described it as a totally unprovoked attack on the 22 year old.

Gary’s body is still in Spain and the authorities are going to keep him there for another three years before they cremate him.

This is absolutely against the families wishes who want Gary’s body returned to the UK for a proper funeral for all family and friends to attend.

Gary had been working in Spain with his father Steve and he was saving up to get married to his childhood sweetheart Ashley Buchanan.

Gary and Ashley had a baby son named Kieran who was only 5 months old at the time of his father’s death.

Kev.

What you did then was very moving and kind and  Ifeel it didn`t come from kev the dj - it came from kev the human being.

I`m 34 and up to last year me and my wife didn`t know what grief was.  34 years of not losing anyone close to me.

Last year we lost a family friend - while at the funeral we found out my dad had taken ill and only had hours left.  We were all round his bedside when he went including his sister - my aunt.

When he died my auntie went back home to tell her family only to find out her son had died alone.

I had lost a dad and a cousin in the space of a couple of days.

A couple of weeks later we lost another cousin.  It was unbelievable.  We just couldn`t understand what was going on.

We were getting married in the September and all this started happening in the april.

Then - the worse - in june.  My wifes father.  A truly amazing man.  My dad was a great man but my wifes dad amazing.  He died.

As a family - me, my wife and kids were in shock.  We had lost are dads and th kids lost there grandads in such a short time.

As far we were concerned the wedding was off - life as we new it changed forever.  We just couldn`t see an end to the grief we had until a friend said that you will NEVER get over grief - you just learn to live with it.

We got married - we toasted the people who weren`t there and we had a good time.  They will never be forgotten.

Of course i`ll be donating.

Please keep up the good work

Andy Williams

KEV, ON FRIDAY WHEN YOU READ OUT THE STORY OF GARRY AND HIS FAMILY, I DONT KNOW HOW I DROVE THE CAR TO TAKE THE KIDS TO SCHOOL,

MY COUSIN DIED WHEN I PREGNANT WITH MY 1ST CHILD AND MY HEART STILL ACHES NOW, 8 YEARS DOWN THE LINE, BUT KNOWING I CAN GO AND VISIT HER WHEN I WANT TO EASES THAT PAIN A LITTLE BETTER.

WHEN PEOPLE ARE IN NEED, ALL WE NEED TO DO IS ASK, YOU HAVE DONE THAT ON BEHALF OF THE DUNN FAMILY, AND BEFORE LONG THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GO AND VISIT GARRY IN HIS RESTING PLACE, HERE, HOME.

YOUR AN AMAZING MAN KEV FOR DOING THIS FOR THEM.

WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT YOU ALL ON RADIO CITY EH??????

Name: Sue Bates

Hi Kev,

Following your appeal on this mornings breakfast show, I just wanted to let you know that I'll be getting myself down to a Wirral HSBC today and joining the many whose hearts this story touched.

A bit like a Seedy hug, it served as a reminder, or wake up call, reassuring me that the rubbish I've been worrying about and carrying round with me can be dropped and forgotten about, as there are so many more important things to be grateful for and invest time in.

I have had a bit of a crappy year really which has resulted in me getting fairly significant hair loss…all stress related, and believe me, some mornings on my way to the medical centre where I nurse, it's been your show that’s got me there with a smile! My only hope is, that I have been able to, and will continue to, conduct myself with a similar level of grace and dignity displayed by Gary's mum. Listening to her speak this morning, my teenage lads fell silent in the car, and I think we all realised that in order to be heard, there is no need to shout. Her soft words brought silence to the usually rowdy car, and as they both got out at school ,there seemed to be more of an emphasis on the usually rushed "love you".

Thanks Seedy for once again getting the big Liverpool family focused on something more important than the rubbish we usually worry about!

My very Best Wishes to you and all the crew, Love Sue Bates x

Message:

Hello,

My name is Steve I am Gary’s dad I have just read the messages again and would like to thank everyone for all your messages and donations it makes me so proud to come from an area where people have genuine feelings and know where there heart is I have donated to lots of charities and appeals in the past and been only too happy to do so but now the boot is on the other foot I cant believe people have taken the time to go out of there way to either bank money or send nice heartfelt messages by email. I was at Radio City last week and had a good chat with Kev Seed and Alex they know how my wife my family and I feel, mentally destroyed distraught obviously upset but also very angry at the way we have been treated by the Spanish authorities. We are still fighting to get Gary home even though a Spaniard is in prison awaiting trial (he has offered to do 6 years we want a life sentence)Gary was 100% innocent just attacked by a gang of Spanish thugs having a laugh some laugh. I think it is important that people know what is happening over this case I will speak to anyone who has a question to ask. Losing my son is bad enough all we want now is his body so the family and all Garys friends have got somewhere to go, When we do get Garys body back (this will so strange) but we will have a party. My thanks  to you all and everyone at Radio City but a big thank you to Alex and especially Kev Seed what a genuine cracking top bloke he is, for all you people out there who listen to him everyday doing his job, well he is just as warm and genuine face to face.  Yours sincerely Steve and Lee Dunne  xxx

These people are going round schools highlighting the dangers of carrying knives.

Why don't they highlight the dangers of A. not buying travel insurance and B. ignoring the laws of other countries, which was what prevented them getting their son's body back. They would have gotten him back immediately had he been cremated. Typical English - no respect for other cultures.

This is what Travel Insurance is for. If you don't want to pay for it - you risk this kind of thing happening.

Serves them right.
